Frank Shields, owner of Excavators Northwest, brings a unique perspective to our work due to years of experience in a wide variety of industries. He has worked climbing trees, in a mine in Colorado, in the tug and barge industry, as an EMT in a volunteer fire department, and as a crane operator before starting his own business. All of these different jobs gives Frank the ability to think outside the box when solving complex problems related to lifting a house, or structural repair of a foundation.
Our philosophy at Excavators Northwest is that everyone can do all aspects of the job. A general laborer on our team gets to operate equipment, help position the lifting beams, run the hydraulic lifting controls or do anything else that you display the desire and aptitude to learn. Likewise, an equipment operator or a driver doesn't sit on their piece of equipment all day. You get in shoulder-to-shoulder and do manual labor with the rest of the crew. Even management pitches in to help when needed. Frank often works alongside the crew on our complicated jobs.
As you can see from our website, no job is ever the same. You will get the opportunity to learn skills that few other construction workers will ever learn. If you display the desire and ability to grow, the sky is the limit. We promote from within, and will give you as much responsibility as you can handle.
Has a Class A CDL to be able to drive our dump truck and tow our equipment trailers. In addition to driving, you would be operating heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steer loaders and walk-behind loaders. You will be learning all aspects of house lifting and foundation work -- from underpinning, to building new foundations under existing houses. You will learn about rigging, handling steel beams, excavation, shoring, driving pipe piles, waterproofing, drainage work, concrete forming, and slab work.
